Adebanji started his interest in art from an early age of 6. He got hooked on drawing his favourite football stars form football annuals and comics, like “Roy of The Rovers”.

He attended Federal government College Enugu, Nigeria from 1983-89, where he had his Secondary Education. He had two brilliant art teachers who really encouraged him to improve his drawing skills. He remembers being told in School that if he continued drawing the way he drew, he would be able to survive the first year in University. He finished from Secondary school as the award winning final year student.

From 1992-97 he attended Yaba College of Technology a renowned Art College in Nigeria. He completed his course there with the most Outstanding Academic Performance. He majored in Fine Art with a speciality in Painting.

Recently from 2003-5 he enhanced his skills in Portraiture by attending Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, Chelsea. He won the John Walton Figurative Prize and the Heatherley Award for the Student with the most Outstanding Paintings in 2005.

He currently works from his studio in Chelsea, specializing in painting, illustration and photography. He also has a passion for sketching people on the tube and train. In all his works he tries to convey a feeling of life, movement and energy.

He also works as an Activity Development Worker at St Mungo’s, a charity that caters for homeless people. He motivates them to make use of the hidden talents they possess to help them overcome negative behaviour and low self-esteem.
